Story Berry 003: Do More Than Say 'I Love You'

The love Adunni and Emma shared was something magical. They both lived on a cozy home built on a mountain top. In the mountain was chiselled out a stairway that led to their home. Their home was simple: One ample living room, a kitchen, the room they shared and a store. No room for guests, at least no physical room.
In their room was a large window that offered a beautiful vantage view of the outside world; the houses that looked like enlarged sand castles, miniature humans and the big screen view of their every day life.
Standing by the window and feeding his eyes with all there was to see, was one of Emma’s favorite things. By standing by the window, miles away from what he watched, he could pretend to be part of the activities out there. The window brought him connection.
But there was a problem -every time Adunni was in the room, Emma was by the window. The attention she desired, the time she wanted to spend with him were all given to the window. The window brought him disconnection from Adunni.
‘Do you love me more than this?’ Adunni jabbed an irate finger at the window, sauntering across the room, to Emma who was by the window. The evening was breezy and moonlight that streamed in through the window made visible the pain in Adunni’s eyes.
‘There is no basis for comparison between you and this mere window, Dunni. You’re the best person in the world to me, the best thing that could ever happen to me. This window is nothing beside You’
‘Is it?’ She angled to the wall. Emma stared at her, not understanding what she was on about. ‘You claim to love me than anything else yet you give that window all you starve me of. You know more of what is going on outside than what is going on, on this side of the window. You want to be connected with the world than you want to be with me. Please… Spare me the ‘best in the world’ patronizing line. Talk is cheap. Spare me the talk and show me you care about me. Show me commitment, dedication, sacrifice to give me attention. I love you more deeply than you will ever know, this is made evident in all I’ve done for you and even in the fact that I always seek communion with you. You need me. But the longer you stick with that window, the more you feel it’s all you need and the farther you pull yourself from experiencing my love.’ She paused for effect’s sake. Her eyes not losing Emma’s. And when she spoke again, her voice was so tender, it roused goosebumps on Emma’s back.
‘I love you Emma. Come to me, and let me show you.’
Emma turned his back to Adunni, facing the window again. Her snapped the window shut and turned back to her.
‘Show me’

The Lord wants to show us the depth, breadth and width of his immense love. He wants to reveal to us deep mysteries of the kingdom, he wants to fill us till we overflow, but, we only get filled to the level we hunger. We only find as much as we seek. This year, bear in mind that God desires to show you, but you won’t see until you seek.
Luke 12:32 Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.
It’s his good pleasure to give you the kingdom, the whole of it, all you have to do is make room to receive it.
